SUPPORT PLAY FRESH

TACKLE THE FUTURE WITH US

Nearly 25% of all disease is caused by long-term exposure to environmental hazards. Without action, today’s children will bear the greatest burden of disease as they grow into adulthood. To bring about change, Play Fresh uses the power of sports to inspire tomorrow's environmental leaders.
OUR MISSION

We hope to transform environmental awareness into action by teaching children about sustainability and social responsibility.

OUR METHOD

We integrate environmental lessons into interactive games to create young leaders in sustainability and advocates for change.

OUR COMMUNITY

We partner with local nonprofits, schools, and youth organizations to transform vacant lots into parks and athletic fields.

OUR PROMISE

We are an all-volunteer organization. Therefore, 100% of every dollar raisedgoes directly toward supporting our programs and expanding our reach.

OUR PROGRAMS

  • PLAY FRESH 3-D

Play Fresh 3-D is a three-phase interactive game in which elementary and middle school children learn how to make a difference in their community by simply reducing their carbon footprint.

Each phase consists of team challenges that show students:

    • which items should be recycled, composted or placed in trashed
    • how poor air quality affects their overall health
    • the importance of reducing their energy consumption

  • FOOTBALL CAMP

At the Play Fresh Football Camp athletes showcase their skills while learning from former collegiate and professional athletes. The day is full of fun and competition as each participant has the chance to learn the same offensive and defensive skills taught to the pros.

While it is a true football training experience, the Camp also incorporates sustainability considerations and strives to raise awareness about environmental issues. In doing so, we hope to inspire change and create long-term benefits for the broader community.

This year we will be expanding our reach by hosting two camps for kids ages 13-17 in Baltimore, MD and Charlotte, NC.

    Cost: $30 per participants**

    Ages: 13-17

Staff: Former collegiate and NFL players, Performance/Agility Coaches and High School Coaches

To offset the carbon footprint of the Camp:

    • All materials used and disposed of are reusable, recyclable, or compostable
    • Each athlete receives a reusable BPA-Free water bottle
    • Staff and participant t-shirts are bought from an eco-friendly supplier
    • A tree is planted to offset the day’s carbon footprint
    • Athletes are incentivized to walk, bus, bicycle or carpool to the event

**This year we are working with the app CHIP’N  to encourage all participants to volunteer in their community in exchange for free admission to the camp. Find out more here

Each Fresh Change participant strengthens their leadership skills and the community by:

    • removing trash and debris to transform vacant lots into parks and community gardens
    • revitalizing the landscape and increasing  green space
    • discussing how the built environment impacts community well-being
